We use play therapy to address concerns such as:

Depression

Anxiety

Trauma (Abuse, Separation from loved ones, Loss)

Life Changes (New baby, Moving, Divorce)

Play is the language of children. In play therapy, we honor the child’s unique developmental level and use play to help them explore, express and resolve their problems within the safety of the therapist-child relationship. They may learn to communicate better, express feelings, gain confidence, adjust their behavior, and develop problem-solving skills.

What to expect: Sessions are held individually with the child. There are toys available that reflect a wide range of themes and experiences: nurture, danger, safety, aggression, family, school, emotions, and more. The child may lead the play, choosing whatever allows them to express their inner world, or the therapist may select a play-based activity that will be useful to the child, including games, role-play, or art. Parents are always involved in treatment, through some family sessions or individual meetings, so that they can continue to support their child’s healing.
